Punkin at 2 Years

Weight: 37 poundsGender: Female
Favorite Activities: She loves to hunt backyard rabbits and squirrels and loves to be petted by all the people she meets.
Story: Meet Punkin McKeever. She's a rescue dog from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. She's part black Lab, part Terrier and possibly some Chow.

We got her April 1, 2006. She was found on I-80 North of Des Moines by an Animal Rescue League volunteer. Punkin crossed all 4 lanes to reach her rescuer on March 19th, was spayed on March 28th, and only put up for adoption on March 31st. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to visit her and immediately recognize her as a very special, sweet little "Punkin."

We have no idea of Punkin's past, but we suspect it was not a happy childhood. She'd had at least one litter. When we adopted her she was skin and bones (32 lbs), partially from living off the land for a while. You see her now after 3+ weeks, mostly on Flint River food, getting healthier and stronger all the time. We love having her and helping her become a strong, fearless companion to us!
