Story: Kirby is clearly a King. He will disobey if he smells a cat and he doesn't have to see one to go running after it. I lived along the Ohio river in the country about a mile or so from an elementary school and neighboring children loved him. Though I wouldn't dream of it now, early every morning he would want out with his buddies and, like clock work, return around 1:00 p.m. It just became a schedule until the one spring day I had a garage sale. This man spots Kirby and comes running up the drive with enthusiasm saying, "I know that dog. Yeah, that's him. You won't believe where he is most days." I know Kirby is well liked, but at this point I'm really curious. He continues, "Yeah! This dog has been climbing the chain link fence at the elementary school during recess and playing with the kids. They seem to know him quite well. He also barks at the barges as they float on the river (Classic Kirby)." Come to find out this was the delivery man for Modern Foods to that school. To say the least, I was more surprised at the children not telling me what he was doing until asked. Before this I never kept Kirby inside a chain link fence because he always climbed out. And he still barks at boats in the water.
