Mini at 5 Months

Breed: MastiffVariety: Old English
Weight: 60 poundsGender: Female
Full Name: We named her Minion from the movie Despicable Me. It was a funny movie we had seen recently and brought us some laughter after all the sorrow of losing Daisy.
Favorite Food: Mini loves sweet potatoes. She is going to eat the Flint River Original Nuggets which I know she will love.
Favorite Activities: She's hyper and loves to play with my two Jack Russell Terriers. In fact she thinks she is a Jack Russel terrier. Her favorite toy is the laser. We have a dog bone laser light she loves to chase it. She loves to chew on empty water bottles and also bring you all her toys so you can see them.
Story: Mini was given to me by our Mastiff breeder. We owned Mini's half sister, Daisy, who would be a little over a year old now. Daisy became very ill in March 2010. She suffered from a disorder called HOD where young large breed puppies outgrow the blood supply to their growth plates. This causes intense pain in the joints and sometimes causes joints to lock up. In some cases this can be treated with steroids and nutrition help.

Daisy stopped eating and lost 40lbs and was unable to walk comfortably. From March until July we fought the HOD with every possible treatment available. In the end, Daisy went to Ohio State University's veterinarian hospital but treatments were unsuccessful. On July 16th, Daisy was humanely euthanized.

The story of Mini began when Barbara our breeder, gave us Mini after Daisy had become so ill and passed away. Barb had never had a Mastiff with this disorder or seen one so sick, she was heart broken. So we took little Mini home. She is Daisy's half sister, but the complete opposite personality.
