Lexi at 4 Years

Breed: DachshundGender: Female
Story: We bought her at a pet store because we just loved her so. After about 5 months, I noticed that her front paws would shake while she was eating. We took her to our Vet and at 10 months old she had x-rays performed to show that her ulnars were not growing correctly. This was so sad because she was so cute and had no idea how deformed she was. We were sent to a wonderful Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Hunt, amazing man. At 11 months old Lexi had Bi-Lateral Ulnar Surgery done. I took a leave of absence from work to care for her long and extensive recuperation that consist of 18 weeks of crate rest, and 6 weeks of rehab. I would do it all again if I had to. Thank God we had the funds and time or she would have had to be put down or never walk. Today she runs, jumps, digs and is very happy living with her pack of 5 other dogs and 2 puppies.
