Picture Perfect in Central Park
Amber at 9 Years

Breed: Golden RetrieverWeight: 75 pounds
Gender: Female
Favorite Food: Flint River Ranch Lamb/Millet/Rice kibble; anything I'm eating; any food on the sidewalk (gross!).
Favorite Activities: She likes stalking squirrels in the park, swimming, retrieving (duh!), rolling in the grass, tormenting mommy, giving kisses to any New Yorker willing to accept them, getting treats from doormen/stores/restaurants.
Favorite Place to Sleep: Winter, in bed with me; summer, on the hardwood floor with her head under the couch.
Special Skills or Responsibilities: She gives "high fives" and will come running to kiss you and make it all better if you tell her you have a boo-boo. She's responsible for spreading love and happiness in Manhattan - doing an excellent job! However, she still fails to clean my apartment when I'm at work. Or do laundry.
Story: Amber has been a super-happy, super-loving dog for almost 11 years. I can't walk two feet without someone commenting on her smiling face or wanting to pet her. Sadly, last fall my vet found tumors in her spleen and liver. She had her spleen removed (tumor benign) but removal of the liver tumor was too risky (tumor malignant). Five chemos later, the liver tumor did not shrink nor was it killed. Having read about the benefits of flax seed oil in liver cancer, I have been giving her some every day along with the lamb/millet/rice kibble, which has flax seed oil in it. Thankfully, despite all she's been through, she continues to be the super-happy, super-loving dog she's always been and shows no signs of the cancer. I am grateful for every day that she's still with me.
